Periodic wellness exams are important to protect your pet from certain diseases.  Wellness examinations are performed by your veterinarian and will generally consist of a thorough physical examination, as well as blood and urine tests that can give indicators of specific disease processes that may or may not be present in your pet.  Most animals require more frequent veterinary visits in the first year of life, as well as during their later years.  Early detection is generally the best method of gaining an upper hand on a potentially debilitating disease.  Just as all people are not the same, all animals are different and have specific needs.  Please don’t hesitate to ask your veterinarian what you can do to ensure the general wellness of your beloved pet at each various life-stage.
